A couple of the Win bets and Exactas paid off, but without a win by Mage, it was not a good day.

I’ll bet $2 to win on every WagerMate horse that has an ROI better than 25% — that’s 15 horses.

I’ll also place $1 exacta box bets on WagerMate’s top 3 picks in each race.

I’m going to accept WagerMate’s pick of Mage in the Preakness, but rather than place a Win bet, I’ll bet two Pick 3s: in Race 11 it will be All with All with Mage, and in Race 12 it will be All with Mage with All.

How can you lose?

If I was forced to pick a headline, I think I like the first one better:

• “WagerMate picks the Derby Winner”
• “WagerMate’s picks for the card lose money”

…but, both are true.

A couple of the bets paid off in a small way, but getting two-thirds of the Derby Trifecta didn’t generate any income.
