I’m going to accept WagerMate’s pick of Mage in the Preakness, but rather than place a Win bet, I’ll bet two Pick 3s: in Race 11 it will be All with All with Mage, and in Race 12 it will be All with Mage with All.

How can you lose?

If I was forced to pick a headline, I think I like the first one better:

• “WagerMate picks the Derby Winner”
• “WagerMate’s picks for the card lose money”

…but, both are true.

A couple of the bets paid off in a small way, but getting two-thirds of the Derby Trifecta didn’t generate any income.

Thanks largely to one nice exacta ($196.20), WagerMate made a profit of well over $5 on the two days of racing at Keeneland. What an easy game!

I think if I actually did some handicapping to supplement WagerMate’s picks, I could have made a $10 profit. Maybe next year.
